According to a recent press release by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), that agency is asking boat owners to update any address changes so they can receive boat registration renewal notices without delay.
"We have literally hundreds of returned envelopes every year," said Fred Messmann, Nevada's boating law administrator. "We don't want anyone to be delayed or forget to register a boat because of a bad address."
Many boaters change addresses without informing the department.
Boaters who wish to change their address online can go to www.ndow.org and click on "boat registration renewal." Boaters can then click on "change registered address" and follow the directions to update the address.
If a boater has sold or traded in a boat, he or she should contact the department to update their record so they won't get a registration renewal for a boat they no longer own.
Boaters can also update addresses and change boat status to "sold" by contacting any department office in Las Vegas, Reno, Elko, Henderson, Fallon or Winnemucca, or simply send an e-mail to the NDOW licensing office at
plannen@ndow.org.
Boaters should provide the Nevada boat number, their name, old address and new address when e-mailing.
Address and status changes must be made by November 10, 2005.
The address will be changed and the boater will receive their 2006 renewals without delay.
