Ethel Louise Scherbarth, 79, a Carson City resident for the past three years, died Sept. 10, 2005, at her home.

She was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Oakland, Calif., to Louie and Florence Williams.

She attended Oakland Tech High School in Oakland, Calif.

She married Harold Scherbarth.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Fort Bragg, Calif., for 25 years.

Mrs. Scherbarth had a long career in accounting in Fresno, Calif. She worked at the Oakland Naval Supply Depot during World Wars I and II.

She received an award from the city of Fort Bragg for her work on behalf of the citizens for quality programming to be provided by the local cable company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Loren, sister Joyce, brother Bill, nephew Jack and niece Maureen.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jeff Loflin, and grandson Jeff Loflin, all of Carson City; granddaughter Jennifer Mynear of Twin Falls, Idaho; grandson Aaron Scherbarth of Walnut Creek, Calif.; granddaughter Stephanie Scherbarth of Point Arena, Calif.; sister May Murtaugh of Carson City; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Carolee Baird of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; one great-grandson; and numerous extended-family members.

At her request, she will be cremated and a celebration of life will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospice.

Northern Nevada Memorial Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
