Carson stays on track at Davis

The Carson High girls and boys girls track teams continued their outstanding showing this season on Friday in the Woody Wilson Invitational at UC Davis.

Andrea Keirstead and Carson's girls 4x800 relay team came away with wins to help lead the Senators' effort. Keirstead won the 100-meter hurdles in a personal best 15.43 seconds and Annie Brinson, Allie Collier, Gloria Sosa and Christy Works won the 4x800 in a season best 10:01.66.

Alex McAlman took second in the girls shot put at 39 feet, one inch and third in the discus at 128-8. Kayla Sanchez took second in the 100 in 12.62 and second in the 300 hurdles in a season best 45.08.

Keirstead finished the 100 in 13.10 and Krista Dixon finished in a season best 13.55. Keirstead also finished in a season best 49.01 in the 300 hurdles.

Gloria Sosa ran a personal best 2:25 in the 800 and Works fnished 11th in a season best 59.81 in the 400. The 4x400 relay also ran close to its season best as Dixon (1:02), Sinead McSweeney (1:03), Sosa (1:02) and Works (1:01) finished sixth in 4:10.31.

For the boys, Eric Walther was fifth in the shot put at 50-7 1/2 and 10th in the discus at 139-3. Chad Shroy finished the 800 in 2:02.05 and the 1,600 in a season best 4:32.01 and Jeremy Gray finished the 100 in 11.55.

"We had a good day I think," Carson coach Todd Ackerman said. "We had some ups and downs but for the most part it was a good day for us. I'm very happy with what we did."

FALLON OUTER RELAYS

Carson's boys also won the title at the Fallon Outer Relays on Thursday. Carson's boys edged Fallon for the title, finishing with 69 points to Fallon's 66.5.

Carson's girls finished second to Fallon as Fallon had 87 points and the Senators had 76.

For the boys, Carson took second in the 4x100 relay, finishing in 46.8 seconds while Dayton won in 46.3. Carson was fourth in the 4x200 in 1:38.2 and won the 4x800 in 8:41.4.

The Senators took third in the sprint medley in 1:42.3 while Smith Valley won the distance medley in 11:31.2. Carson was third in the weight relay in 50.6 and third in the co-ed relay in 48.7. Carson took second in the pole vault behind Smith Valley and third in the high jump behind second place Douglas and winner Dayton.

Carson won the shot put with three throws of 135 feet, 4 1/2 inches and took third in the discus. Dayton won the discus at 406-6.

For the girls, Fallon edged Carson in the 4x100, winning at 51.9 whiel Carson finished at 52.0. Fallon also beat Carson in the 4x200, winning in 1:50.6 while Carson was second in 1:51.6.

Douglas won the 4x400 in 4:10.7 while Carson won the sprint medley in 1:57.0. Carson was fifth in the long jump and won the pole vault. Douglas won the high jump while Carson swept the shot put and the discus.
