A search Thursday of a south Carson City apartment in which a 7-month- old baby died has brought investigators no closer to figuring out what happened.
Detective Dena Lacy said some items were removed from the home of Paul and Aurora Anderson, but investigators are still baffled by what could have killed Tyrone Anderson, a seemingly healthy baby boy.
According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, a preliminary autopsy performed Wednesday uncovered an internal injury to Tyrone's head. Furlong declined to elaborate on the injury, but characterized it as serious enough to warrant an investigation.
Paramedics were called to the family's South Carson Street apartment about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, after Tyrone's father found him unresponsive in his crib.
When paramedics arrived, the boy was pronounced dead.
Lacy said there were no obvious signs of injury to the child's body and the home was clean and well-kept.
She said the Andersons have been "extremely cooperative," with the investigation.
Following the search on Thursday, Lacy released the home to the parents.
"We're no closer to solving this than we were yesterday," she said. "It's really frustrating because we have a dead child and right now there are no answers."
The complete autopsy report isn't expected for weeks.
