Cora Lee Shawe, 84, an 80-year resident of Gardnerville, died April 16, 2006, in Gardnerville.

She was born June 13, 1921, in Corvalis, Ore., to Hamilton Bruce Shawe and Henrietta Frieda Rhodes.

She attended the University of the Pacific, and the University of Nevada, Reno.

Ms. Shawe was a teacher and tutor for the Douglas County School District.

She served with the U.S. Women's Auxiliary during World War II.

She enjoyed shopping, reading, tutoring and reading to her many nieces and nephews, the historical sites of the Carson Valley, and spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by brothers Fred Shawe and Bruce Shawe, and one stillborn sister.

Among her survivors are her brother, Daniel R. Shawe, of Lakewood, Colo., and several cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended-family members.

Cremation took place at FitzHenry's Crematory. No services are planned.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
