Funeral services for LaVonne Anita Reyes, 84, a Carson City resident since 1972, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Reyes died Feb. 13, 2006. She was born May 30, 1921, in Radcliffe, Iowa, to Olai and Ordina Olson.

She graduated from Radcliffe High School, where she played on the women's basketball squad for four years.

She graduated from Sunnyvale Beauty School in 1960.

She owned and operated Von's Salon for nine years in Spirit Lake, Iowa. When she moved to Carson City, she worked for the Ormsby House and Treasure Chest casinos, followed by several years working for clothing boutiques. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, and started her own seamstress business.

She served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1940s as a motion-picture sound technician.

She was preceded in death by her brother De Florin Olson and sisters Wanda Rose and Verna James.

Among her survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law Garr and Linda Reyes of Carson City and Kim and Joan Reyes of Reno; sisters Del Rina Spindler and Romaine Hanson; brother Leo Olson; and grandchildren Jaime Williams and Stacie Reyes, of Carson City.

Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
