Genevieve 'Genny' Bondetti Bandera

A funeral service for Genevieve "Genny" Bondetti Bandera, 96, a Carson City native, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Mrs. Bandera died Jan. 25, 2006, at her home. She was born April 19, 1909, in Carson City to Charles and Madeline Mora Bondetti.

She married Romeo Bandera in 1939 and they lived in Franktown.

She spent most of her life in the Carson City and Franktown area. Prior to her death she lived with her daughter in Sparks.

She graduated from Carson High School in 1927 and worked as a cook and laundress at many ranches including the Wesley Ranch, which became the List Ranch, and at the Flying ME and Washoe Pines ranches.

Her oral history of Carson City was recorded and is available at Carson City Library.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister Marie.

Among her survivors are her daughters JoAnn Driscoll of Rochester, N.Y., and Carol Skamel of Sparks; son Donald Bandera of Spring Creek; sister Maxine Rizzi of San Leandro, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 2180 S. Carson St., Carson City, NV 89701.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
