A memorial service for Marcus H. Itano, 83, a seven-year Gardnerville resident, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Community Church in Minden. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.
Mr. Itano died March 6, 2006, at his home. He was born April 9, 1922, in Modesto, Calif., to Haruta Itano and Marie McCloud.
He married Betty J. Itano on Sept. 2, 1971, in Reno.
He graduated from Modesto High School in 1940.
He retired from the U.S. Army after serving for 22 years. He received a Purple Heart during World War II.
He was a member of Grace Community Church.
Among his survivors are his wife of Gardnerville; daughters Angela Branham and Sharon Graybill; stepson, Patrick McGuire; stepdaughter, Linda Kincaid; brother, Frank Itano; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one niece.
Memorial contributions may be made to the "Voice of Martyrs" at Grace Community Church.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
