Three plays at Gold Hill Hotel

The Gold Hill Theater Troupe announces three new plays opening at the Gold Hill Hotel, 1 mile south of Virginia City.

The first play is done presented as After Dinner Theater from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Way Off Broadway Dinner and Theater Special for $28 for dinner and a ticket to the play.

On Wednesdays at 8 p.m. through May 24, actors from the Troupe will present the famous Broadway play "Agnes of God," written by John Pielmeier and directed by Jeanne Weber.

On Thursdays at 8 p.m. through May 25, actors will present "Fringes of Gold," a two-act drama written and directed by Leslie Stevens.

On Friday nights at 7 p.m. through June 2, actors, singers and dancers will present the variety show "The Gold Hill Follies of 2006." The show and the dinner are $45 per person plus tip and tax. Reservations are advised.

UNR offers Comstock History course

The "Special Problems: History of the Comstock: Ethnic Groups on the Comstock" class is 4-10 p.m. today, at the University of Nevada, Reno's Redfield Campus, 18600 Wedge Parkway; and April 8, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., on a required field trip to Virginia City (students supply own transportation).

Comstock marks Easter with egg hunt, parade

An Easter Egg hunt and Mad Hatter's Easter Parade will be held Easter weekend in Virginia City.

The Great Virginia City Easter Egg Hunt will be from 1 to 3 p.m. April 15 at Miner's Park for children 10 and under. Each plastic egg will have candy and the name of a Virginia City merchant inside; the child will then go to the store to collect a free prize.

The Mad Hatter's Easter Parade will begin at 1 p.m. April 16 at the Virginia City Jerky Co. on C Street. There will be prizes for the best, biggest and most bodacious bonnets for women and for the best, biggest and most bodacious cowboy hat for men.
