Crosstumblers Gymnastics is once again expanding its programs this time with the addition of a dance program under the direction of Lindy Wilson.

"We have always wanted to have a dance program," said Crosstumblers director, Steffany Walker. "When we moved into the current facility four years ago, we turned the largest office into a dance room complete with a dance floor, ballet barre, and mirrors. However, we could not find a dance instructor that wanted to run the program."

After being unable to find a qualified instructor to start a dance program, the dance room was essentially used as an additional storage room, and Crosstumblers turned their attention to expanding the existing programs including most recently a preschool gymnastics program under the direction of Jill DePasquale.

"Jill and I were talking about available resources in the gym and I pointed out the dance room," Walker said. "She was at first confused, and then she got very excited."

DePasquale's sister-in-law had wanted to start a dance program; however, the startup costs had kept her from her dream. After numerous meetings, Wilson was given the job as dance director and the freedom to build the program however she likes.

"I know how important it is for them to have something they can work hard at while having fun at the same time," said Wilson. "This is what I would like every dancer to feel."

Wilson has been dancing for 19 years, and has more than 13 year of experience in dance instruction. She has performed in numerous events throughout the United States including performing on the Disney cruise line and for Explosive Entertainment by magician Eli Kerr. She has also choreographed award winning numbers for competitions and performances throughout Nevada and California.

There will be a free week of classes beginning on March 27, with the program beginning in April. Classes will be offered in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop along with specialty classes including Preschool, Adults, and a Boys Only class.

Prices are based off of the Crosstumblers' prices with a $25 sign up fee for non-members and a monthly tuition of $36 for one hour a week and discounts for additional classes.

Classes will meet at 940 Mallory Way No. 3 in Carson City. For a complete schedule, to reserve a space or for more information, call Crosstumblers, 883-5477.
