Walden's Coffeehouse

Jeff Wilson, owner

1600 Medical Parkway, inside the new regional medical center, a kiosk in the main lobby

What I do: It's a full-service coffee-espresso bar. We serve a breakfast blend, French roast and a decaf. We serve all the regular espresso drinks, blended drinks and tea.

Why I came to Carson City: I live in Carson City and have been here for more than 20 years. Timing was good. It was a good opportunity to locate in the new hospital. I've owned the Walden's Coffeehouse in Reno for five years. It's been the funniest thing I've ever done.

My most memorable business experience: Up until August 2000 I was an exploration geologist and then overnight I became the owner of a coffeehouse in Reno with 13 employees. This transition was intimidating and required me to establish new skills sets.

The first dollar I ever made: I was a box boy in a supermarket.

My inspiration: I've always been entrepreneurial.

My favorite coffee drink: I like what we call the short, double-shot hazelnut latté.
