Area schools will honor Veterans with ceremonies and other tributes

CARSON HIGH SCHOOL

1111 N. Saliman Road, Carson City

• Carson High School will be holding a recognition ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the high school's Senator Square. The ceremony will begin with the presentation of the colors with the school's NJROTC unit and the singing of the national anthem. After the ceremony Culinary Arts students will serve refreshments. Veterans, blue star and gold star mothers are encouraged to attend and wear their distinctive memorabilia.

CARSON MIDDLE SCHOOL

1140 W. King St., Carson City

• Carson Middle School will be holding a Veterans ceremony and Flag Retirement at 10 a.m. Thursday at the school.

BORDEWICH-BRAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

110 Thompson St., Carson City

• Bordewich-Bray Elementary School will hold a flag salute at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

EMPIRE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

1260 Monte Rosa Drive, Carson City

• Empire Elementary School will be making additions to their Freedom Wall all week, in the form of student submissions of letters, art, and photography.

FREMONT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

1511 Firebox Road, Carson City

• Fremont Elementary School will be holding a Veterans Day Ceremony to honor custodian George Rowland, a Vietnam veteran, at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the front of the school.

FRITSCH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

504 Bath St., Carson City

• Fritsch Elementary School will be holding a flag raising and a short program in front of the main office at 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

MARK TWAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

2111 Carriage Crest Dr., Carson City

• Mark Twain Elementary School will be holding a student-driven celebration ceremony to honor veterans at 1:30 p.m. today at the school. Tributes, obtained through student interviews with veterans, will be presented, as well as songs, a flag ceremony, and awards.

GARDNERVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

1290 Toler Ave., Gardnerville

• Gardnerville Elementary School will be holding a Veterans Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday at the school.
