The Nevada Archaeological Site Stewardship Program is accepting volunteer trainees.

Trainees learn about the archaeological and historical resources and how to recognize and document vandalism.

They develop skills on how to assist the Bureau of Land Management and other agencies protect irreplaceable sites. They provide valuable data on changes made at specific sites.

The Dry Lakes/High Basin area needs site stewards. They are required to sign a code of ethics and a confidentiality agreement, as the locations of some resources are kept confidential for protection purposes. If you are interested, contact Sali Underwood, State Historic Preservation Office stewardship coordinator, at (702) 486-5011 or saunderw@clan.lib.nv.us.
