Buck Ram's Platters will appear at the Peppermill Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Tahoe Ballroom. Tickets are $65 and $75 at the Peppermill or tickets.com.

The Platters were formed in 1953 by songwriter/producer Buck Ram and his partner, Jean Bennett, and went on to become one of the most popular vocal groups of all time, scoring 39 Billboard hits through the 1950s and '60s. As members of the group moved on, Buck Ram and Jean Bennett kept the integrity of the Platters music alive with subsequent groups.

Clint Black coming to Sparks

Country singer Clint Black appears on two nights at 8 p.m. in the Rose Ballroom Oct. 27-28 at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks.

A country music traditionalist from Texas, Black was one of the first artists to kick-start the mass-market popularity of country in the '90s.

Harmonica star at UNR

Fresh from his star-studded career tribute in Carnegie Hall, 84-year-old harmonica genius Toots Thielemans delivers his Brazilian-tinged quartet for an evening of jazz at the University of Nevada, Reno Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Nightingale Concert Hall.
