Carson City


Players will hold auditions for musical


Proscenium Players will hold auditions for "Blood Brothers" tonight and Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Theatre at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W King St. for the second show of the 2006-07 season.


"Blood Brothers" is a musical story of twins in Liverpool, England, who are separated at birth and later forge a friendship.


The cast will include three females ages 40-50 and five males ages early 20s to 50-plus male, and female chorus members of all ages and all vocal ranges. Some characters will need to play believable 8-year-olds through adulthood.


Auditions will consist of paired cold readings from the script and a prepared singing audition of 1-minute or less showing vocal range (auditioners should provide recorded accompaniment or sing a capella).

Carson City Republican Women to meet


The Carson City Republican Women will hold its monthly luncheon meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Nugget.


The guest speaker will be District 38 Assemblyman Tom Grady. The public is welcome to attend. Cost is $17.

Computer training available at library


Carson City reference librarian Susan Antipa will offer an introduction on using a Web browser at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the library auditorium. The class is for novice Web users; e-mail and chat rooms are not covered.


There are also free computer training sessions between noon and 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays on the Web or Microsoft Word.


Signups are required.

Disabled Vets to meet


The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 7 of Carson City will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Veterans Hall in Carson City. There will be a potluck meal served at 6 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. All DAV members are encouraged to attend, and all veterans are welcome. Family Support Council offers workshops


The Family Support Council of Douglas County will hold three workshops this month.


• "Parenting Through Divorce and Other Transitions" is 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Sept. 26. this class is free.


• "Baby-sitter Recruitment and Red Cross Baby-sitter Certification" is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and costs $10. Preregistration is required.


• "Financial Basics" is 6:30 to 8 p.m. and teaches how to balance a check book, set up a budget and credit problem solving. This class is free.


All classes are at the Douglas County Family Support Council Offices, at 1255 Waterloo Lane, Suite A, in Gardnerville.
