On April 21st and 22nd, the Nevada B.A.S.S. & Federation will be holding its second annual State Qualifier at Lahontan Reservoir.

The hosting club will be the Sierra Nevada Big Mouths Chapter of Northern Nevada., and there will be 30 fishermen (15 boats).

This tournament will qualify one 12-man team (the top 12 of the 30 fishermen) to compete in the Divisional (site unknown at this time) in 2008.

The bass fishing is catch and release only with live weigh-ins to be held at the Fir Street boat ramp in the late afternoon on Saturday and Sunday.

Everyone is welcome to come out and watch.

By way of background, for more than 30 years, the B.A.S.S. & Federation has been more than a name. It has been a community united by the sense of camaraderie and a spirit of belonging to something unique that carries from generation to generation. Over the years, members have decided to join the B.A.S.S. Federation for many reasons other than exciting tournament bass fishing.

In September 2006, B.A.S.S. & Federation Nation was started in Nevada by Tim Myers of Las Vegas. Nevada is the 49th State to join the B.A.S.S. & Federation.

In November 2006, the Sierra Nevada Big Mouths Chapter in Northern Nevada was recognized as one of the six clubs under the Nevada B.A.S.S. & Federation.

In December 2006, the first state bass qualifier was held at Lake Mead. A 12-man team was formed and they will represent Nevada at the divisional competition on Lake Powell in May of 2007. After that tournament, one member will qualify to move onto the National Championship, and from there, six Federation members will have the opportunity to fish in the Bassmaster Classic.
