Darrell Rasner is scheduled to be the starting pitcher today when the New York Yankees face the Oakland Athletics in Oakland.

Game time is 6:05 p.m. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Bay Area. The 1999 Carson High graduate is taking Carl Pavano's place in the rotation.

Pavano has been pushed back in the rotation due to arm soreness. Pavano is scheduled to start on Tuesday for the Yankees against the Cleveland Indians.

Rasner had a tough outing in his first start on the year on Sunday for the Yankees, allowing five runs in 4.1 innings in a 6-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Due to a blister, Rasner had trouble commanding his offspeed pitchers.

Yankees manager Joe Torre said he didn't think the blister was a recurring problem and believed it was caused by the cold weather. Rasner said he was undergoing treatment to toughen his hand.
