A registration will be held today for the American Youth Soccer Organization. Each year, about 1,000 youths ages 4 to 19 take part in the league. All participants are guaranteed to play at least a half of every game.
AYSO, an all-volunteer organization, is also seeking volunteer coaches and referees.
Today's registration will take place at the North entrance to Carson High School from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Other signup opportunities will be May 2 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.,; May 12 from 2-5 p.m. and May 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., all at the high school. First time registrants must bring a birth certificate. Parents can speed up the process by pre-registering online at www.aysocarsoncity.org. Other information can be obtained at the Web site or by dialing the AYSO voicemail system at 882-2976.
This year, AYSO will also feature a U-5 program. For six Saturdays in late summer and fall, these new players and their parents will be out having fun and learning about, or returning to, the game of soccer.
