Chamber breakfast club meeting today

Carson City Chamber will hold its Breakfast Club Meeting at 7:30 a.m., today at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center.

Following breakfast, enjoy hitting a few balls on the range compliments of Silver Oak. Special Tee Times set aside beginning at 5 p.m. for Chamber members at the special rate of $20 for 9-holes including cart. Call 841-7000.

Retired public employees meeting

The Carson City Chapter of Retired Public Employees of Nevada meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive.

Guest speaker is Dawn Daly from Catalyst RX, who will talk on updated benefits on the pharmacy program. Call 883-6334.

Sheriff's Night Out in Mills Park tonight

Bring the whole family to show unity for crime prevention.

"Good Bye to Neighborhood Crime, Hellow to a Safe Carson City" is 5-8 p.m. at Mills Park on East William Street. Free hot dogs and soda will be available as well as family activities, visits with officers and the chance to check out equipment.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce Quality of Life Committee will be staffing a booth.

Justice to speak on women's vote

The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City Field Office will host Nevada Supreme Court Justice Nancy M. Saitta at 10 a.m. today for a special presentation, "When Women Got the Vote."

The one-hour presentation will take place at the BLM office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road.

Justice Saitta is on of the newest members of the Nevada Supreme Court, having been elected in 2006. Her efforts on behalf of children have brought her numerous award including the District Attorney Outstanding Service Award.

Jorgee's open house to benefit WNC

Enjoy African dancers, sip African wine, and help Western Nevada College at Jorgee's Exotic Arts & Imports Open House from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Ten percent of the store's proceeds, starting with the open house and ending Sept. 8, will be donated toward special projects at the college.

The open house will feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and African dance performances at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.

The Radtkes will present a check to the college for the amount raised at the WNC/GNCU Golf Classic on Sept. 17.

Tracy & Kingpins rock at Eldorado

Painting group to meet in Minden

The Carson Valley Desert Brushes will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Johnson Lane Firehouse, 1450 Stephanie Way in Minden.

Painters of all levels and those who would like to learn to paint are welcome to participate in this event. The project for the evening is the preparation for a special paint-in on Saturday.
