John Arthur Baker, 83, died July 2, 2007, in Carson City. He was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He graduated in 1948 from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps and later with the U.S. Air Force. He retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bee Louise Baker.
Among his survivors are son John R. Baker; daughter Margaret Jensen; step-children Lynne Marie Palmer, Kathleen Louise Smiley, Christopher Maguire, Mary Patricia Southard, Barbara Hall and Jack Vandgriff.
A private memorial service will be 3 p.m. Aug. 20 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, in San Diego.
