Carson City


Streets closed for CMNN carnival


Ann and Plaza streets, north and east of the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, will be closed from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. for the museum's annual carnival. Alternate routes of travel are Washington and North Carson streets.


Artists, musicians at Greenhouse Garden Center today


The public is invited to view the art of Northern Nevada Artists and hear the musicians today from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Greenhouse Garden Center at 2450 South Curry St.

'Taste' raising money for Alzheimer's today


The Alzheimer's Association is holding a "Taste to Remember" Memory Walk from 6 -8 p.m. today in the garden of the Governor's Mansion. The event includes Wine tasting, light hor d'oeuvres, classical music, silent auction of original works of art, golf packages and many more exciting items will be offered. Kruzers, Nugget celebrate end of summer tonight


The Karson Kruzers and the Carson Nugget are holding an end of summer street dance and show-n-shine from 7-11 p.m. tonight. The dance and show-n-shine will be in the west Nugget parking lot. The mini-car show will be from 7-9 p.m. For information contact 883-0927.


Minden


Tractor show revs up for its 12th year


The 12th annual Antique Tractor Show takes place today from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The show is located at Stephanie Way and Heybourne Road north of Minden. Look for the signs on U.S. Highway 395 between Carson City and Minden. Admission is $5 for adults and children under 12 are free.


State offers free night sky viewing


The Nevada State Parks is inviting the public to view the evening sky through telescopes tonight at the Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The Dangberg Historic Home Ranch is located in Minden on State Route 88, approximately one mile south of Douglas High School.

Dutch oven cooking explained


Experience preparing, cooking, and sampling food like potatoes, desserts, main entrees and bread made in a Dutch oven. The program is sponsored by the Nevada Division of State Parks at Washoe Lake State Park from 5-8 p.m. today. The program is free but there is a $4 per car entry fee to the park. Salton Sea subject of photo show


The troubled history of California's Salton Sea is on exhibit in "Salt Dreams: Reflections from the Downstream West" opening today at the Nevada Museum of Art. "Salt Dreams" examines the complex environmental history of the Salton Sea, the largest lake in California. Admission is free for NMA members; $10 adults, $8 students/seniors.
