Firefighters attacked a six-acre wildland Friday off Pinenut Road from the air and ground, keeping the blaze away from residences in the heavily-forested area.

East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor said the fire broke out about 5 p.m. in the area of 2960 Pinenut Road.

As of 6 p.m., no structures had been destroyed.

"We've got three aircraft making drops from the Minden airport," Taylor said.

He said the fire was moving south and east and had burned out of heavier fuels into sage and grasses.

"Before, it was in the piƱon," he said of the second fire in four days.

Firefighters responded from East Fork, Fish Springs, Sheridan, Ruhenstroth, Gardnerville, the Gardnerville Ranchos, Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service.
