Two men sought in stabbing

Two men are being sought in a stabbing early Friday morning in northeast Carson City that left an 18-year-old man in critical condition.

Christopher Barlese, 18, underwent emergency surgery at a Reno hospital following the stabbing just before 3 a.m. at an apartment complex on College Parkway.

According to Detective Bob Motamenpour, Barlese was apparently stabbed during a confrontation near Building Q at the Parkway Plaza Apartments.

The suspects are described only as two Hispanic men.

Motamenpour said that Thursday, Barlese had several run-ins with the suspects at the complex where he was staying.

Motamenpour said that at about 2:45 a.m. Friday, Barlese was challenged by the same men through his apartment window. He went outside to confront them and followed them to the rear of Building Q where the stabbing occurred.

Motamenpour said Barlese was stabbed at least seven or eight times in the chest, arm and abdomen, while the suspects yelled "Lima Street."

According to Carson City gang officer Sgt. Mark Marshall, Lima Street is a Hispanic Carson City gang that pledges its allegiance to the Southern California street gang the Sureños. However, Lima Street also considers the Sureños-based Carson City gangs Eastwood Tokers or their partners in 18th Street to be their enemies.

Motamenpour said it's unknown if Barlese has any affiliation to the aforementioned gangs, and that Barlese was not willing to tell police what he knew.

"He was very uncooperative from the minute that the cops and firemen were on scene," Motamenpour said. "He advised everyone, 'Don't say anything.'"

Barlese was flown from the scene by helicopter to a Reno hospital where he underwent surgery. Motamenpour said the victim's injuries were no longer considered life-threatening.

Motamenpour said the two suspects were seen prior to the stabbing in or around an older model Monte Carlo- or Cutlass-type, two-door, lowrider sedan with glittery green paint and hydraulics. Investigators want to speak to the owner of that vehicle.
