RENO " Authorities in Reno say 3-year-old boy was shot and wounded by his 5-year-old brother as the two were playing with a small-caliber rifle.

The Washoe County sheriff's office says the children's mother at first thought the little boy as shot with a BB gun, but it turned out to be a real rifle.

The accident happened around 7:15 a.m. Monday at a home on Foothill Road.

Authorities say the bullet went through the child's shoulder.

The child was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center. Paramedics described his condition as stable but critical.
