(Staff reports) - A Carson City man was among three men rescued off the Oregon coast Monday after their fishing vessel caught fire offshore from Tillamook, according to the Oregonian newspaper.

Rescued were 25-year-old Peter McGuinness, from Carson City, 43-year-old Tim Carr from Bonney Lake, Wash., and 40-year-old Richard Pennewell, from Edgewood, Wash, according to reports in the Oregonian.

The fire, in the vessel's engine room, prevented the crew from entering the wheel house to reach radios to call for mayday, so they called for help using a cell phone. A rescue helicopter crew hoisted the three men and transported them to shore, the paper reported.
