Share the experience of God with the next generation

Psalm 78:4 says, "We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done."

It's one of the wonderful aspects of the Kingdom of God, people proclaiming God, His teaching, His glory, and His goodness, to the next generation. The Bible is filled with stories, songs, festivals, and feasts that have been designed to provide a foundation of knowledge that can be built upon. It is a wonderful act that connects future generations with the past, and at the same time, propels them into a new future.

Today's mindset is filled with skepticism and doubt. We look for the hidden agenda and wonder if any person we encounter is truly authentic. The next generation is longing for something real. They recognize insincerity from a mile away and they are tired of simple spiritual formulas and experiences.

They want to hear about and experience the power and wonders of the Lord. They want to be connected to a rich heritage, they want to be prepared for a better future. All of this is accomplished when we, the older generations, proclaim our God to the next generation.

I think one of the saddest moments in the Bible occurs in the book of Judges where, "Another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel."

The people of Israel failed their children and grandchildren. The responsibility of declaring God and all of His marvelous wonder lies with us, all of us who know someone younger than us.

In Israel, they missed a generation, and it sent their descendants into a downward spiral of defeat and failure. We cannot afford to make the same mistake. We must emphatically and vividly proclaim the goodness and greatness of God to a generation which is crying out for something authentic.

During this holiday season, don't let the opportunity pass you by. The Son of God was born as a baby two thousand years ago. It's not just another story. That moment changed history and it changed my life.

Because of Christmas, I have been set free from the burden of death and sin, and I have experienced amazing grace. I am better than I was ten years ago; I am better than I was one year ago. God is making me better and preparing me for a fantastic future.

I will tell my kids that He will do the same for them and they will blaze new trails of success, growth and freedom through God's wonder-working power.
