Ron Trunk, chief executive officer for Citizens for Affordable Homes Inc., which helps people build their own homes in Dayton, has been removed from his position by the board.
Perry Comeaux, a CAHI board member and now interim executive director, confirmed Friday that Trunk was asked by the board to resign, and declined to do so, after which the board removed him from his position.
The board meeting was on Nov. 20, and a delegation met with Trunk on Nov. 21 to inform him he was being removed. Trunk had been with CAHI for 51Ú2 years.
Comeaux declined to say why the action was taken.
"It's obviously a personnel matter," he said.
Comeaux said he was later asked by the board to take over on an interim basis.
Citizens for Affordable Homes Inc. has helped many Dayton residents build affordable homes using their own labor as a down payment, rather than a larger bank loan. Those who qualify for the housing assistance program must dedicate 35 hours a week to the construction of their group of homes.
During his time as CEO, Trunk oversaw projects in Dayton, Carson City and Pahrump.
Lyon County officials demanded CAHI move out of its offices at 100 Pine Cone Road in Dayton after the commission turned down Trunk's request for zone changes to allow the organization to continue operating an office on a home in Gold Country Estates, its subdivision. The organization moved to Fairview and Roop streets in Carson City.
Trunk could not be reached for comment.
