A Carson City bartender was arrested Tuesday morning after deputies, with the assistance of an anonymous tip and a drug-sniffing K9 officer, discovered several pot plants in the man's apartment next to an elementary school.

Jason Laurence Krueger, 25, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony possession of more than 1 ounce of marijuana and five misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, information was received via the sheriff's department's Meth Hotline that Krueger was growing marijuana in his Firebox Road home within 100 feet of Fremont Elementary School on Saliman Road.

Deputy Daniel Ochsenschlager and his drug-sniffing K9, Teddy, got to the house about 8:26 a.m., and Teddy immediately sat down - his signal that he detects narcotics in the area. Ochsenschlager wrote in the report that he himself could smell marijuana outside the apartment.

While attempting to get a search warrant to enter the home, Krueger arrived and allowed officers inside, the report states. There they allegedly recovered 27 marijuana plants and 213.5 grams of harvested marijuana in labeled glass jars.

Krueger's bail was set at $4,764.
