Donald E Brooks age 64 of Gardnerville died at his home with his wife, Lynn, by his side December 28, 2007.

An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting for upland birds and big game he was a native Nevadan born and raised in Carson City. As a young man he served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was later a Deputy Sheriff in Carson City. Later in his career he owned and operated several businesses including Carson Valley Golf Course which he retired from in 2002. In retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling and their grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Lynn; son Tom and wife Manya of Gardnerville; daughter Kristine and husband Phil of San Diego Calif.; sister, Marilynn Gish of Reno, three grandchildren; Colin, Grace, and Aoife.

The Family requests memorials to the Carson Valley Food Closet.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008, in the Carson Valley United Methodist Church on Centerville Lane in Gardnerville with Pastor Pete Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastside Memorial Park. Arrangements are entrusted to Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden.
