Fred Green Jr., 86, a five-year Gardnerville resident, died Feb. 1, 2007, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Green was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Fred Green and Matilda Tefs.

He married Monica Hewlett on Dec. 19, 1944, in Youngstown.

Before moving to Gardnerville, Mr. Green lived in Youngstown.

He was a high school graduate and an electrician. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the north Atlantic.

He was preceded in death by his wife on May 9, 1996, in Palo Alto, Calif.

Among his survivors are his son Mark Green of Gardnerville; daughter Diane Gibson of Camdenton, Mo.; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and extended relatives.

Burial will take place at Santa Rosa Memorial Park in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
