Red Rose to perform for Fat Tuesday party


Red Rose will perform from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Stew's Sportatorium, 302 N. Carson St., in the Lucky Spur, in honor of Mardi Gras. Participants are invited to wear Mardi Gras masks and enter a drawing.

Capital Nevada Toastmasters meet


Capital Nevada Toastmasters meets at noon Tuesday at B'Sghetti's, 318 N. Carson St. The public is welcome to attend a meeting as a guest and observe.


Toastmasters provide a way to build self-confidence while developing communication skills. Skills gained include meeting facilitation, how to give constructive feedback, listening, impromptu speaking, formal presentations and leadership.


Toastmasters provide a hands-on, supportive environment in which members develop communication and leadership skills that can impact you personally and professionally.

Minden library to hold book sale


The Douglas County Public Library Minden branch, 1625 Library Lane, will be holding a book sale Tuesday through March 6 in the front lobby of the library.


Videos, DVDs, audio books, and paperbacks will be on sale.


Paperbacks will be 50 cents each; all other items will be priced as marked.

Birds & Books reading group to meet Tuesday


The Birds & Books Reading Group will be meeting from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sundance Bookstore to discuss "Songbird Journeys: Four Seasons in the Lives of Migratory Birds" by Miyoko Chu.


This is the reading group for the Lahontan Audubon Society.


It meets the third Tuesday of every month.
