A memorial service for George T. Reidel, 69, a 25-year Carson City-area resident, will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Reidel died Feb. 7, 2007, in Carson City of cardiac arrest. He was born Sept. 8, 1937, in San Diego, Calif., to Charles and Julie Reidel.

He worked with the U.S. Forest Service at Plumas National Forest as a fire-prevention specialist, where he was trained as a firefighter. He was later employed by the Nevada Division of Forestry and the Washoe County Building Department. Later, he worked for the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District as one of its original nine firefighters, and eventually returned to the U.S. Forest Service. He was a member of the Nevada Firefighters Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alicia Reidel, in 2005; and son Danny Reidel in 1999.

Among his survivors are daughters Sherryl Miranda of Biloxi, Miss., and Carrie Reidel, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and son Lynn T. Tussey Reidel.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
