Louis 'Gus' Carey

A funeral service for Louis "Gus" Carey, 90, a 32-year resident of Carson City, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith. A viewing will be 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Carey died Feb. 18, 2007, at home. He was born April 5, 1916, in Bristow, Neb., to Clarence Dean Carey and Florence Sholes.

He married Betty Ann Osborne on June 20, 1943, in Wayne, Neb.

Before coming to Carson City, he lived in Buena Park, Calif.

Mr. Carey retired from the Chrysler Corp. in 1983 after 40 years.

He also managed the Clear Creek Mobile Home Park for 27 years, and worked as a caretaker at Governors Field.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed stained-glass making.

Mr. Carey was preceded in death by his wife in 1995 and eight siblings.

Among his survivors are his son, James Louis Carey; daughter Phyllis Whited; daughters and sons-in-law Wanda and Bob Martin and Bonnie and Bill Flim, all of Carson City; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three step-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
