Gibbons to attend governors conference in D.C.

Gov. Jim Gibbons will head for Washington, D.C., on Sunday to participate in the annual National Governors Conference.

After joining the governors from across the nation at the White House for dinner with President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush., he said, there will be a series of meetings Monday to discuss issues. Included is a meeting between Western governors and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on Western issues.

He said the discussions will also include the need for greater energy independence and the development of clean and diverse energy initiatives.

On Tuesday, he will speak at the National Guard Youth Foundation Challenge Champions Awards dinner.
