A Carson City woman was shot and killed Thursday night by deputies after she allegedly confronted officers who were called to her home on the report of a domestic dispute.
According to Sheriff Kenny Furlong, deputies were called to 1813 Marian Ave. sometime around 10:30 p.m. They were allegedly confronted at the doorway by the 36-year-old woman, whose name was not released, he said.
"She had a gun with a laser pointed at the officers and they shot and killed her," Furlong said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
A man inside the home was detained by officers. The SWAT team was called out to clear the house.
Surrounding homes were evacuated.
The Nevada Department of Public Safety was called in to handle the officer-involved shooting.
The last time Carson City deputies were involved in a shooting was Feb. 1 when a deputy was shot in the hand during the service of a search warrant.
