Maria Calhoun, 85, a Carson City resident since 1964, died Dec. 27, 2006, in Reno.
Mrs. Calhoun was born June 14, 1921, in North Carolina, to Charlie and Mamie Dove.
Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Calhoun lived in San Francisco and Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a Baptist.
She enjoyed dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Calhoun in June; sisters Madie Mendez, Margaretta Thompson and Sadie Dove; and brothers Johnny, Charlie and Alexander Dove.
Among her survivors are her sister Mamie Matlock of Jacksonville, N.C., and brother Kenneth Dove of Long Beach, Calif.
Burial will take place at Lone Mountain Cemetery. A private graveside service will be held.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
