A memorial service for Sara Zappettini, 85, a Sonora, Calif., resident since 1978, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Unity Church in the Mother Lode, 326 W. Stockton Road, Sonora.
Mrs. Zappettini died Dec. 27, 2006, in Carson City. She was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Burley, Idaho, to Levi and Lucynthia Halford.
Before moving to Sonora, Mrs. Zappettini lived in Carson City from 1952-78.
She was a member of the Nevada Artists Association, the Desert Garden Club and the Mother Lode Arts Association. She was the co-founder of Unity Church in the Mother Lode in Sonora.
She enjoyed painting, gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Zappettini on June 30, 2006.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law ,Robert and Shell Zappettini of Carson City; daughters Karen Brumhall of Carson City and Gina Jones of Sonora; daughter and son-in-law Jan and John Sullivan of Carson City; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Unity Church in the Mother Lode, 326 Stockton Road, Sonora, CA, 95370. Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
