A graveside service for Charles "Chuck" H. Dresselhaus, 84, a 27-year Dayton resident, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dayton Cemetery.
Mr. Dresselhaus died Jan. 11, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Reno. He was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Grand Bay, Ala., to Charles Dresselhaus and Tessa Marie Mustard.
He worked as a superintendent in the construction field for Cahill Construction in Stockton and San Francisco.
He served in the Pacific Islands as a U.S. Marine Corps in World War II, earning the rank of corporal and two Purple Hearts.
He enjoyed ballroom dancing, fixing his house, watering the 75 trees he planted around his home, playing the penny machines at the Dayton Depot and learning about his grandson's achievements.
He was an active member of the Dayton Senior Citizens Center, where he ran errands and delivered meals for the homebound.
He was a lifetime member of the Dayton Veterans of Foreign Wars post No. 8660, the American Legion, the Carpenters Union, and the Good Sam's RV organization, which he once served as the assistant state director.
He was preceded in death by his son Larry Moody of Stockton, Calif., in 1966; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Among his survivors are his wife of 40 years, Louise Dresselhaus, of Dayton; daughter Leia Riley of Sacramento; grandson Chad Riley of Sacramento; and nieces Marlene Lansing and Carol Jean Pittman, both of Grand Bay, Ala.

Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
