Ruth L. Canfield, 71, a Carson City resident since 1965, died Jan. 15, 2007, in Carson City.

Mrs. Canfield was born May 10, 1935, in Hammett, Idaho, to Charles Bowden and Edna Day.

Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Canfield lived in Reno for 25 years.

She was a checker at Safeway in Carson City for 15 years.

She enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, embroidery and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her second husband.

Among her survivors are her first husband, Raymond Brownwell of Sun Valley; stepson, Billy Canfield of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Lorna and Tom Thompson of Dayton, and Ruth and John Bunce of Sun Valley; daughter Dennise Brownwell of Sun Valley; brothers Charles Bowden of Susanville, Calif., George Bowden of Oregon, Wayne Bowden of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard Bowden of Oregon; sisters Gloria McVey of Sun Valley, Bess Bowden of Sparks and Delores Moore of Reno; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
