Virginia Miner Rhodes

Virginia Miner Rhodes, 82, a longtime Northern Nevada resident, died Jan. 15, 2007, in Reno. A military burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Rhodes was born May 19, 1924, in Seattle to George Vance Rhodes and Edyth Miner.

She received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University. She was a journalist and social worker.

Mrs. Rhodes served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army during World War II.

She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Reno.

Among her survivors are her children Mary Scott Wallace and Laura Bee Wallace, both of Reno, and Walter Vance Wallace of Seattle; sister, Mary Vance Rhodes Edson of Duluth, Minn.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;, one niece; and one nephew.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery.

Cremation was under the direction of Mountain View Cemetery.

Mountain View Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
