Rocha named interim library/ archives administrator

Guy Rocha has been named interim division administrator of the Nevada State Library and Archives.

Rocha has been assistant administrator of the division or archives and records for more than 20 years. He replaces Sara Jones, who recently resigned to become director for the Carson City Library System.

Cultural Affairs Director Michael Fischer said Rocha's service to Nevada gives him "a unique perspective and an unmatched skill set for the job."

Rocha said he was honored by the opportunity to serve and hopes to lead the division to a more diverse and technologically advanced role in the digital age.

Fischer said the department will conduct a national search for the best applicant to fill the job on a permanent basis.

Fischer, of Gardnerville, was appointed director by Gov. Jim Gibbons on Jan. 9.
