A memorial service for Leonard Joseph Hirmer, 71, a Carson City resident since 1979, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, Minn. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.

Mr. Hirmer died Jan. 21, 2007, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Reno.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Hirmer lived in Spanaway, Wash.

He was a dental technician, and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-72.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Knights of Columbus, and the Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Among his survivors are his son Mark Hirmer of Arkansas; daughters Linda Stevenson, Tracie Lehman and Cassandra Goodwin, all of Washington; brothers Robert Hirmer of Minnesota and John Hirmer of Illinois; sisters Cathy Louwagie, Monica Hoof and Cornelia Decock, all of Minnesota, Dorothy Smith of Washington, and Mary Gorrell of South Dakota; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Truckee Meadows Cremation & Burial is in charge of arrangements.
