Dance classes Tuesdays


Line-dancing classes are offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 6 at the Carson Mall. Classes are for beginners and intermediate dancers and a partner is not needed. Walk-ins and dancers of all ages are welcome. Cost is $5 per person. Call 750-7513.




Public meth meeting set


The Carson City Sheriff's Office will hold a free meeting Wednesday on the meth problem in Carson City. The meeting will be at Grocery Outlet, 1831 N. Carson from 1-2 p.m. The meeting is open to all, including parents who have questions about meth and how to talk to their children about drugs. Refreshments will be served.




Auditions for wedding comedy in Carson


Wild Horse Theater Company, with the Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, announces open auditions for the area's first interactive comedy wedding.


"Joey and Maria's Comedy Italian Wedding" is the original interactive dinner theater hit that has been playing to sellout crowds.


The show welcomes guests to an Italian wedding and reception. The "action-packed" ceremony is followed by an Italian buffet dinner and reception that promises to keep you laughing long after the bride and groom leave for their honeymoon.


The evening is complete with champagne toast and wedding cake. The cast interacts with the audience and encourages everyone to participate in the dancing, singing and celebrating.


People between the ages of 18 and 80 that can deliver a Bronx accent are encouraged to audition. Comedic monologues are welcome. Come prepared to do some improv.


Auditions will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday and 5-8 p.m. Feb. 7 at The Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, 801 S. Carson St. Shows will be weekends in June.

Auditions set for 'Wiz'


The BAC Stage Kids announces auditions for "The Wiz," an adaptation of the classic children's novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. Auditions will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center, 511 W. King St.


The show will run two weekends, April 6-15 . The cast will include ages 6 to 16. Director will be by Andie Anderson. Auditioners should prepare a one-minute song and be prepared for movement and dance. Call 883-1976 or visit www.breweryarts.org.




Senior center to offer computer classes


Carson City Senior Citizens Center offers computer classes. "Introduction to Computers" is 9-11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Feb. 12 for four weeks. The fee is $40 per person. "Internet Workshop" is 1-4 p.m. Feb. 20 and 22. This class requires a basic computer proficiency. Cost is $20 per person. Call 883-0703, ext. 222.

Senior health fair Wednesday


The Douglas County Senior Center will be conducting its eighth annual Senior Health Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, in the Shannon Ballroom of the Carson Valley Inn, 1627 Highway 395, in Minden. This fair is designed to provide seniors and the community an expanded awareness of health-care providers and services in the community. There will be blood pressure checks from 9 a.m.-noon and massage therapy from 9-11 a.m. There will also be an daylong raffle, the proceeds of which go toward the Meals on Wheels program. Free transportation to the fair will be provided for Douglas County seniors by calling DART at 783-6456. This event is free and open to the community. Call 783-6455.

Uncle Kracker brings show to Sparks


Dishing a special blend of down-home country soul, funky, groove-tinged hip-hop, and hard-driving rock 'n' roll, Uncle Kracker has blurred the lines in today's mainstream, pop-centric music scene.
