Retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Eric P. Bailey, 86, a resident of Carson City for the past eight years, died June 29, 2007, in Carson City.

Mr. Bailey was born Nov. 22, 1920, to Eric P. Bailey and Winifred Roberts in Carlton, Neb. He married Jerry Perry on June 8, 1986, in Willow Glen, Calif.

Before residing in Carson City he lived in Cupertino and San Jose, Calif.

Mr. Bailey served as a lieutenant commander with the U.S. Navy Submarine Corps for 30 years. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for 17 years as an electronics engineer with Fairchild Service Conductor Co.

He was a 32nd degree Masonic Lodge member in Nebraska and San Jose and was a member of the Shriners Club.

Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by a son, Mayo and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of Carson City; daughter Winifred Newby of San Jose, step-daughters Trisha Hamada, Jerilyn DeJonge both of Carson City, Robbi DeYoung of Lake George, Colo.; step-son Douglas DeYoung of Ben Lomand, Calif.; sister Eileen White of Central Point, Ore.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation was by Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of the arrangements.
