Feeling that the country has gotten off course, members of the Eagle Wings Church are joining a nationwide event to pray for a return to the preservation of life.
The group is holding a nonviolent protest against abortion 9 a.m. Wednesday on the Capitol steps.
"We are going to cover our mouths with red Duct Tape and right 'life' on it," said event organizer Nancy Lookabaugh. "We are standing for the lives of the unborn."
Wednesday's hourlong event is a precursor to a national event taking place on Friday organized by The Call. That event, which is based in Nashville, Tenn., is a day promoting a change in society.
"It's a prayer and fasting event for us to return to the moral values this nation was founded on," Lookabaugh said.
Eagles Wings Church, 150 East Roland St., will host a worship service and meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Friday. Both the protest on Wednesday and the meeting on Friday are open to the public.
Pat Fike, who will take part in the protest, said it's about valuing life in general.
"For us, as Christians, it's about every aspect of life. We've gone from a society that values the elderly and babies to one that euthanizes our elders and performs abortions. We are going to stand up and silently pray for a change in society," Fike said.
