Last week, I suggested that one way to escape the summer heat would be to sneak off for camping in the nearby mountains.

This week, here is a little more detailed information for some selected high altitude campgrounds where you can temporarily get away from that miserable heat.

If you're interested, the following are some nearby U.S. Forest Service campgrounds in the Bridgeport and Carson Ranger Districts. Pick one, go there and have a nice cool, fun-filled weekend.

If you do pick one, be sure to take a warm jacket and a good sleeping bag. If you don't, you'll be sorry at night.

Bet your favorite pigeon that he can't tell you why I like the Trumbull Campground.

If he grins and says, "Trumbull is located a short hiking distance from a number of trout-filled lakes in the Hoover Wilderness Area," he could have been one of my fishing partners at one of those lakes.
