Carson 13s stay alive

The Carson 13-year-old Babe Ruth all-stars stayed alive in the state baseball tournament on Monday with an 8-2 win over Fallon at Fallon's Babe Ruth Field.

Carson jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Brock Pradere singled, stole second and scored on Carter Nuckolls single. Nuckolls then stole second and scored on Max Keller's single. After Keller stole second, he scored on Seth Rojas' double.

Carson went up 4-1 in the second when Cody Scarlett singled and eventually scored on an error.

In the third, Seth Rojas walked and Jace Carlson and Drew Moreland both singled to load the bases. Tim Baylor's single scored pinch runner Ty Welch and Carlson to make it 6-1.

In the fourth, Carson made it 7-1 in Rojas' RBI single. In the sixth, Nate Landes singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch on a wild pitch to make it 8-2.

Clint Page picked up the win, not allowing a hit in 1.1 scoreless innings. Nuckolls started, allowing one run on two hits in two innings and Cole Dufresne allowed a run in one inning. Pradere finished up, allowing three hits over 2.2 scoreless innings.

Scarlett, Pradere, Nuckolls, Rojas and Moreland all had two hits for Carson, which will play in an elimination game at 5 p.m. today against South Reno.

SOUTH RENO 15, CARSON 14S 4

South Reno scored eight runs in the fifth inning to put the game away. South Reno led 6-0 after two innings before Carson closed to within 7-4.

Mark McCraw was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, Bryce Altus doubled, Adam Whitt was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Cameron Mayville hit a solo homer. Austin Law pitched into the fifth inning and settled down to shut down South Reno in the third and fourth innings.

Carson (1-1) will play Sparks at 6 p.m. today in an elimination game at South Reno's Jack Tighe Field.
