A Mass of Resurrection for Carl Frederick Hipsley, 85, a Gardnerville resident, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

Mr. Hipsley died July 18, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Clarke County, Iowa.

He married Elizabeth "Betty" McCann in 1941. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Grand Order of Elks in Fallon. He was a United States Poultry Inspector. He was a Phoenix Suns fan and enjoyed bowling. Prior to moving to Gardnerville he lived in Sun City, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward.

Among his survivors are his wife of 65 years, of Gardnerville; his son and daughter-in-law Richard and Leanne Hipsley of Elko; daughter and son-in-law Joyce Herman and Larry Lackey of Gardnerville; sister Maxine Lewis of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and cousins.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
