Cary Dyer, the executive director of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, is leaving his post at the chamber to concentrate more on his flock.

Dyer, pastor of Well of Worship church in Mound House, said his congregation is growing too much for him to keep on wearing his other hats. He also has resigned as commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dayton Post 8660, where Stan DeStolinski will take over.

"I've got to get rid of stuff so I can do the church," he said. "My church has grown to 80 or 90 people every Sunday, and the demands of the church and the needs of the people have become too great. I can't do two full-time jobs."

He said new residents are looking for local churches, but added he was getting members from Dayton and Carson City too.

The church, at 22 Cash Drive, has Sunday services at 10 a.m. and a weekly Bible Study on Tuesdays starting June 12. It is affiliated with Pentecostal Holiness out of Oklahoma City.

Mike Riggs, president of the chamber's board of directors, said the board of directors will begin the search for a new director as soon as possible. He said qualifications for the position will be set and posted in newspapers and industry journals by next week.

Until a replacement is found, members and prospective members may contact Riggs by e-mail at mike@monarchmailing.com.
