Greater Reno-Tahoe will host more than 1,500 of the leading economic development officials from around the world at the International Economic Development Council Conference Oct. 4-7, 2009. Reno is the smallest city to host the conference, joining major metros including New York City, Chicago and Atlanta.

A regional host committee including the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, among others look to raise $300,000 in sponsorships for the council, with more than $110,000 already committed. The conference will bring in key economic development professionals from around the globe, generating national media attention and supporting the visitors authority's "Bring your Meeting Home" campaign.

The council is the world's largest economic development association and holds an annual conference for attendees to discuss the latest economic trends.
